IDIOT TANGO [Chicago, The Annoyance]
Idiot Tango is a sketch comedy pas de duh from Rich and Rebecca Sohn.
The world is a crowded dance floor filled with fools and the people who suffer them from an over-the-hill porn star to a CEO with an oral fixation to an overly and strangely prepared potential victim to parents and their high-fiving infants. The dance floor of Idiot Tango is crowded with unforgettable characters tripping through life with ineptitude and idiocy.
Idiot Tango is written and performed by Rich and Rebecca Sohn; ensemble members of The Annoyance, Alum of Second City and IO, and is Directed by Pat McKenna, director for The Second City.
Rich and Rebecca Sohn have been ensemble members of The Annoyance since 1992. They’ve written, performed, improvised, understudied and directed over 50 shows there. Currently they improvise every Tuesday night in “Bad Touch” after teaching their respective classes.
Rebecca Sohn is thrilled to be returning to Austin. She’s an alum of the Second City ETC and the Touring Company. Currently she writes, performs and directs for Second City Communications. She has taught for Annoyance, Second City and many festivals around the country. Performing credits include The Screw Puppies, Co-Ed Prison Sluts (US), MadCap, Grabass: A Carnival of Dummy (Annoyance), Armando Diaz Theatrical Experience and Hootenanny (IO). Directing credits include, The Perfect Wave, Imaginary Friends, and Photobooth (Annoyance). As an actor she has performed with Steppenwolf, Remy Bumppo and others. She is 1/3rd of the improv group, Switchboard who performed and taught in Austin last year.
Rich Sohn is excited to be making his second visit to Austin and hopefully not his last. He’s not trying to pander; he really likes it here. In Chicago he performs, teaches, directs and writes for Annoyance Productions; writes for Second City Communications and performs with iO (formerly ImprovOlympic). He can currently be seen improvising in the shows Bad Touch (Annoyance) and Willie Nelson Slept Here (iO) and performing in the show Death Roast (Annoyance). He is married to Rebecca Sohn and very happy about it.
FUCT [New York]
FUCT began in May of 2002 when a group of students illegally performed an evening of underground comedy. This show was put up at midnight in the black-box theater with a curtain, a microphone and a keg. Back then, the only point collectively agreed upon was the title, FUCT.
In December of 2004, a portion of the group partnered up with most of the original members in an attempt to take FUCT to the world. FUCT in Public premiered for one night only at the Rattlestick Theatre, thrusting the troupe of players onto the New York City comedy scene.
By the following fall, rumors of this secret show had quickly spread and when FUCT returned (now introducing a live band into the mix), the audience more than doubled in size, with students cramming in to sit or stand wherever they could to catch a glimpse of the stage.
