Stand-up Showcase feat. Bob Biggerstaff
BOB BIGGERSTAFF (Houston)
Houston, Texas has been the home of many greats. Nolan Ryan, Earl Campbell, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Swayze, Beyonce and the guy that played Data on Star Trek The Next Generation among them. Add Bob Biggerstaff to that list.
Bob came to Houston from Liverpool, NY while still in high school and attended the University of Houston. While still in college he became a doorman at the legendary Laff Stop. After a few months "manning the door" he started to perform at the Laff Stop open mic night and developed his self-deprecating, sports related style. Bob quickly became one of Houston's top comics winning the Funniest Person in Houston Contest in 2003.
He has been successful in many comedy competitions becoming a national finalist in Sierra Mist's "Search For the Next Great Comic", HBO's "The Lucky 21", and Comedy Central's "Open Mic Fight". In 2007 Bob made his national television debut on NBC's hit show Last Comic Standing and was seen on Dave Attell's HBO special "Captain Miserable". 2008 saw appearances on Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham" a semifinal appearance on Last Comic Standing and the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show. In May of 2009 Bob will be seen on NESN's Comedy All-Stars.
From comedy clubs, colleges, and theaters in the U.S. to our military bases overseas, Bob has entertained people all over the world. Be sure and catch him at a club near you before he takes all his money and buys an island off the coast of Fiji and lives out his days as a 300-pound weirdo ala Marlon Brando.
ALBERT IM
The first joke Albert Im ever wrote was a submission to Laffy Taffy. Back then Laffy Taffy came in squares and the jokes were printed on the inside of the wrapper - it was a very different time. The joke had something to do with trickle-down economics, but he never got a response. Comedy's a tough business.
NICK ROSS
Nick Ross's is founded in the belief that it's really fun finding the absurdity in what he loves about the world, and not as fun pointing out what he hates about it. That being said, it's also fun pointing out things he likes, but doesn't love, and things he dislikes but doesn't hate.
BRYAN GUTMANN
Bryan Gutmann is an Austin comedian who has been gaining national attention since he began performing a mere four years ago. Born and raised in upstate New York, Bryan moved to Austin twelve years ago, where he has lived ever since. While attending a small, insufficient college (Bryan just misspelled 'insufficient', thus proving his point) he began hitting open mics and quickly established himself within the local comedy scene. His brand of quiet, insightful, and often light hearted comedy eventually gained not only local recognition, but also national recognition when he was asked to perform on Comedy Central's new talent program "Live At Gotham" in 2007. Since then Bryan has won the prestigious .Funniest Person in Austin. contest, and has opened for names such as Doug Benson, Marc Maron, Dave Attell and Mike Birbiglia. Most recently, Bryan was asked to open for legendary comedian David Brenner at the famous Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado.
