Watching an Edmond Bulldogs show is like water-skiing on acid.  Not "acid" the drug, but a lake of acid.  A huge lake of tickly acid, that tickles instead of burning your flesh.  And the stage is a jet boat, and The Edmond Bulldogs are a talented sea captain with lots of jet boat training, pulling you through the smoothest, glassiest acid he can find.  And his captain's telescope thingy is all futuristic, with night vision capabilities, so you can pretty much relax.  I mean, you have to hold on to the rope, but not for dear life.  And the rope is your sense of humor.  Don't do drugs.

The Edmond Bulldogs are actually five people named Mitch Baker, David Bewley, Shannon McCormick, Jeremy Lamb, and René Pinnell. This troupe began when Mitch and David created a sketch show for the 2003 OoB festival.  Originally with the meta-successful troupe One Hit Wonder, they knew how to make a self-gratifying show happen with only a dream and a month. Their next OoB show welcomed the other performers into the fold, and began their trek towards an MTV pilot (thanks to René). The pilot, though meta-brilliant, failed to entertain a teenaged test audience, and MTV passed on the series. Now they're performing all-new stage shows every year at OoB, and creating original online content for OnNetworks.com under the name Backpack Picnic.

Why the name change?  Remember when you used to hate sour cream, before you ever even tasted it, because it has a gross name? Well The Edmond Bulldogs is a SWEET name; but, sometimes life deals you an MTV contract that, according to certain lawyers, means you have to change your sweet name if you intend to use it to create or promote video content.  So if you happen to be visiting OnNetworks.com for your daily dose of "amazing", please know that Backpack Picnic is basically The Edmond Bulldogs, only sideways.
